How to service the rear ABS sensor on 2007 Mercury Mariner?

Service of the rear ABS sensor begins only after putting your vehicle into neutral position on a hoist. Carefully detach the plug since improper handling might destroy the plug and force you to change the sensor though the sensor operates correctly. Start by taking out the grommet from the body before rotating the plug to expose the sensor wire tabs which permits use of a small screwdriver. Remove the rear ABS sensor wire connector along with its wire from the retainer. The rear ABS sensor wire requires removal of its three bolts before installation where torque should reach 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.). The sensor area should be cleaned first before removing the rear ABS sensor bolt from the wheel knuckle. Installing this bolt requires a torque of 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.). Clean the mounting surface completely then put the rear ABS sensor into its proper place.
