How to Service and Repair a Wiper Switch on a Steering Column on Mercury Sable?

You should start wiper switch service and repair by removing the three screws which fasten the steering column shroud. First detach and remove both the upper steering column shroud along with the lower shroud. Disconnect the electrical connector from the multi-function switch followed by removing the two screws that secure the switch. Follow the removal procedure in reverse when installing the new switch by tightening all screws to 3 Nm (27 lb-inch).
