  The repair process of a selector lever cable and bracket requires the Air Suspension system to be free of electrical power to stop unexpected air spring inflation or deflation which could lead to shifting vehicle movements that might cause critical injuries. The air suspension switch should be turned off by performing this step if it is available. While keeping the vehicle at a hoist station in neutral gear disconnect the selector lever cable starting with removal of retaining nut then unconnecting it from the manual control lever followed by unconnecting it from the selector lever cable bracket. The work starts with removing the selector lever cable retainer followed by unclipping the cable from the routing assist bracket and its clips that lead to the engine compartment. To remove the selector lever cable bracket from the transmission users should first detach the bracket securing bolts followed by unclipping the cable from its engine compartment routing clip. Then disconnect the cable from the Steering Column by unfastening it from both the transmission selector lever arm ball stud and the steering column bracket and discard the retainer. Push the bulkhead rubber grommet through the engine compartment and take out the selector lever cable from the vehicle. To install the cable select during installation insert the new selector lever cable through the bulkhead opening while setting the rubber grommet properly. To install the cable properly snap it to the ball stud before pressing the cable into the bracket until the device clicks. Set the selector lever cable to the steering column before installing a new retainer then connecting it to the transmission selector lever arm ball stud. The selector lever should be placed in the (D) position followed by hanging a 1.4 kg (3 lb) weight from it. Secure the selector lever cable to its routing clip then feed the cable through the routing assist bracket until completion with the retainer. Propagate the selector lever cable bracket before inserting the retaining bolts which need to reach torque specifications of 28 Nm (21 lb-ft). Secure the cable into its proper position within the bracket and on the selector lever cable bracket without connecting it to the manual control lever during this step. Fix the cable under upward routing clips while performing any necessary adjustments to the selector lever cable. Vehicle owners can repower their vehicle with a fire suppression system only after performing necessary safety protocols. Complete the system adjustments when the vehicle rests on the ground then restore air suspension power if present and take away the 1.4 kg weight from the selector lever.
