How Is the Auxiliary Evaporator Core Serviced and Repaired on Lincoln Navigator?

The servicing procedure for Expedition EL along with Navigator L models requires performing the auxiliary heater core and evaporator core housing together while single component service applies to both Expedition and Navigator vehicles. A vacuum leak test of the evaporator core must occur before removal when leakage is suspected. A new receiver/drier cartridge must be installed only when contamination from failed A/C compressor and damaged receiver/drier cartridge is present. As the first step remove both the auxiliary heater core and evaporator core housing. The installation of auxiliary heater core and evaporator core housing requires component transfer from previous heater core and evaporator core housing to new assembly before putting in both components for Expedition EL or Navigator L models. Expedition and Navigator owners should detach and discard the TXV fitting while removing its bolt then removing the fitting seals during this process. Start by taking out 12 screws from the evaporator/heater core access cover before removing it together with disconnecting the drain tube that leads to the evaporator core then finally extracting the evaporator core.
