Destroy the eight tailgate access panel screws and place the panel back onto position while tightening it to 5 Nm (44 lb-in). First disconnect the rod location from the tailgate while opening the retaining clip to free the tailgate latch activating rod from the tailgate remote control. Reinstall the tailgate latch bolt by applying 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) torque together with a proper tightening procedure. For the next step remove the tailgate latch bolt followed by the tailgate latch cable you should tighten fasteners to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) during reinstallation. To complete the removal process attach the tailgate latch but after installation apply lubrication then perform the opposite steps to replace it.
