The front seat cushion cover requires safety glasses during service on vehicles with
Air Bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) to protect from potential injuries in case of accidental deployment. The connectors of the air bag module must not be probed due to deployment risks that result in personal injury. Memory saver devices should be avoided at all times. It is necessary to disable the SRS system before servicing any component equipped with a seat. When the RCM fuse is removed while driving the air bag warning lamp should illuminate as a normal condition but does not indicate any faults. The SRS system needs complete operational inspection with no faults present as the final requirement to return the vehicle to customers. Depowering the SRS system should be your first step together with seat removal. The manual lumbar control knob needs to be turned counterclockwise all the way before withdrawal from the adjuster shaft. You must disconnect the seat control switch electrical connector before removing the side shield screw and pin-type retainer, and then detach the side shield. A precise removal of the cushion trim cover J-strips combined with separate hook and loop fastener disengagement allows cushion trim cover extraction while preventing damage to the hook and loop strip on the seat cushion foam pad. Install the front seat after reversing removal steps and transform power to the SRS.
