The procedure to remove and install the clutch disc along with
Pressure Plate in the 4.0L engine starts with transmission removal. Even application of bolt tension helps avoid any damage occurring to the clutch pressure plate system. Index-marking should be performed on the pressure plate when reusing it with the
Flywheel before removing the six pressure plate bolts then taking out the pressure plate and clutch disc. Discard the pressure plate bolts. The installation process requires users to line up the original pressure plate according to its removal index marks while always installing brand-new pressure plate bolts. Examine the flywheel before choosing a proper clutch aligner to position the clutch disc onto the flywheel surface. Seal the pressure plate into position by using six new pressure plate bolts which should be torqued according to a star pattern to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft). The installation of the clutch hydraulic tube to the slave cylinder should precede transmission engine assembly and the subsequent bleeding of the clutch hydraulic system.
