Wear safety glasses during
Air Bag sliding contact servicing and position the air bag with its bag and trim cover pointed in the opposite direction of your body to prevent injuries that might happen from accidental deployment. Read the safety procedures first by disconnecting
Battery Cables to drain back up power and centering the wheel then removing the key for secure locking before proceeding. You should use a screwdriver to remove the three steering column lower shroud screws to detach both the lower shroud and then remove the steering column upper shroud screws to separate it. Moving forward in the process remove the steering wheel while disconnecting all electrical connectors particularly the air bag module electrical connector from the steering column. The three retainers can be freed using a thin bladed screwdriver while you remove the air bag sliding contact by pulling the electrical connector through the column hole. First align the air bag sliding contact by turning the inner rotor completely counterclockwise followed by clockwise rotation of 2.75 turns to meet the alignment markings while allowing the locking tab to enter the slot. Researchers should apply the opposite procedure to position the new component into place. Divers should note that abnormally behaving car systems during road use are possible because the vehicle must learn its adaptive strategy after battery disconnection thus requiring at least 16 km (10 mi) driving to finalize the learning process.
