How to service and repair the tailgate latch on 2009 Mercury Mountaineer?

In order to fix tailgate latch, open and support the tailgate. Take off 7 bolts, 4 retainers and the access panel. Slip the locator and pull off the latch actuating rod. Take 2 bolts out of the latch, and then re-fit all parts, screwing the bolts to 5 Nm and 25 Nm.
