How to service and repair the hood latch on 2008 Ford Crown Victoria?

In order to service the hood latch, take off the 6 retainers and radiator sight shield. Note the position of the latch, discard and tighten the 2 bolts to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) when reinstalling. Unhook the cable, undo the latch, and repeat, making sure that the latch is slipped properly.
