How to service the rear parking brake cable on 2006 Lincoln Town Car?

The first step to service the rear parking brake cable is to utilize the parking brake release handle to release the control. The vehicle requires no electricity for air suspension because turning the air suspension switch off from the luggage compartment helps stop air springs from changes causing unintended vehicle movement. Set the vehicle to neutral mode and position it on a hoist. Fully activate the parking brake control while pulling the adjuster clip downwards in its direction. To protect the adjuster lock up the brake adjuster along its clip while you push it upward then restore the brake control to its normal state. At the cable connector point separate the parking brake cables and conduits which lead from the front part of the vehicle to those from the rear section. Pushing the retaining tabs will remove the right-hand (RH) parking brake rear cable and conduit from the frame bracket before you disconnect the left-hand (LH) parking brake rear cable and conduit retainer from the cable adjuster. The installation procedure requires tightening the RH parking brake rear cable and conduit bolts to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.) torque level. Release the parking brake rear cable and conduit from the parking brake cable connector while unfastening its connection at the axle housing before taking out the cable and conduit. The installation should be done by following the reverse steps of removal while setting the correct cable tension.
