2005 Ford Expedition Door Latch Assembly Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Rear Door Latch Assembly on 2005 Ford Expedition?
A: The service and repair of rear door latches requires the rear door window glass to be in its highest position. For service and repair of the rear door latch start by removing the rear door trim panel and placing the watershield to the side. Remove the childproof door lock cover before disconnecting the exterior door handle actuating rod by opening its clip. The removal process starts by taking out the bolts before putting the rear door latch to the side along with the bolts in the discard pile. Remove the electrical connectors followed by releasing both interior door cable components until the rear door latch can come out. Position the cable cover aside while releasing the conduit that contains the interior door cable. After reversing the removal process applicants should reinstall parts when needed while optionally greasing the latch with multi-purpose grease.
