Driveshaft index-marking must be done alongside transmission extension housing marks because the output shaft should stay stationary. When servicing driveshaft yokes using circular flange design it is important to index-mark both yoke sides and transmission flange sides. Vehicles with split pin yokes need index-marks on both driveshaft and pinion flange. The installation process starts by removing four bolts and discarding their U-joint retainers only for vehicles with slip yokes and removing four bolts at transmission points as well as four bolts at the rear axle pinion flange for circular flange vehicles and taking note of the different bolt directions per application.
