How to service and repair the parking brake cable on 2000 Mercury Cougar?

In order to fix the parking brake cable, release the brake, loosen the wheel nuts and lift the car. Take off the wheel and exhaust parts and unscrew the rear cables. In disc brakes, remove the cable connection with the lever, in drum brakes, remove the brake shoes. Install components and fix parking brake.
